CrossFit Level 1
Growing up, I played tennis, ran track and field, swam, snowboarded and played lacrosse. I continued to stay active, but I felt like I had no direction. I was too intimidated to go in the weight room in college because I felt like I didn’t belong. I was scared of people judging my cluelessness when it came to lifting a barbell. So instead, I would head straight for the cardio equipment and continued down that road until three years ago. I was immediately hooked after my first week at CrossFit CE. Not only were the workouts challenging and fun, but it was comforting to walk in and feel like I was part of a team. I loved the community aspect of Crossfit, and I think that is what sets us apart from other “boutique” gyms.
Lifting a barbell is incredibly empowering, especially for women. Lifting has helped me focus on how strong I am getting, and how much weight I can add to the bar, instead of how much weight is on the scale. Lifting isn’t just about changing your physique, it’s about changing how you see yourself in the world. It builds the confidence that is needed in every aspect of life. It is my hope that when you take my class, you walk out feeling more confident both inside and outside the gym.
