Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism certification
I have been an athlete my whole life and I have always been so thankful for what my body is capable of doing. I played basketball and field hockey in college and soon after graduating fell in love with CrossFit. What’s not to love? The opportunity to learn new skills, improve on your weaknesses and push yourself while working out with friends. I knew I was in for life after my first class!
When I became pregnant with my first child, I realized there were very few resources on how continue to train safely while pregnant. As a trainer and coach, I thought I knew modifications for pregnant athletes. I soon learned there was a lot I did not know and I was determined to become the coach and trainer I needed while pregnant. I knew there was more to learn than the advice from doctors, keep doing what you’re doing! There so much we can continue to do while pregnant but there are also modifications that we can easily make to still get the same training stimulus while not adding additional pressure on our core and pelvic floor. After my first pregnancy, I was so eager to get back to what I was doing before I was pregnant, I did not take the necessary steps to help my body heal and recover to establish a strong base to build from and pod the price. After taking multiple courses and certifications to help understand how to safely train and recover and 3 pregnancies in which I trained throughout. I am so happy to have the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with women during one of the most amazing yet challenging chapters of our life.
